My studio practice encompasses both sculpture and painting, with a painterly sensibility that informs my approach to form, colour, and surface texture. The creation of ‘Milestones’ began with plasticine modelling, providing a flexible and intuitive way to shape and edit volumes. This hands-on approach helps me test scale, balance, and interaction before moving into finished durable materials and final dimensions.

A total of ten individual forms are repeated in varying combinations throughout the five milestones. I approached composing these elements in the same way I approach composing a painting, grouping them to create balance and movement through colour, repetition and form.
Colour plays a vital role in my work, connecting it to a specific site or moment. For Milestones, I drew inspiration from the Auburn site: the surrounding trees, seasonal foliage, wildlife and shifting light. Colour is an integral part of the sculptures, helping them both harmonise with and stand out in their natural environment.
The sculptures are created using
cement‑free geopolymer concrete produced with biomass ash with the assistance of Dr. Sara Pavia and Dr. Zehao Lei at the Engineering Department at Trinity College Dublin.
Two of the elements will be made of timber.
